My husband, Fred, of 44 years is still my best friend and lover. We have been through so much together--the death of both his parents; the palliative care and loss of our 30 year old son, Kelly, to brain cancer; and my mother's battle with Alzheimer's. Through it all, he has been my strength and my support.

We built a home together in 2000 from the ground up. And despite his having a very novice apprentice, me, he never once said "Let's quit!"

He is always there for me, even it is to just vent my frustrations or cry on his shoulder. From Nov. 13, 2009 through January 21, 2010, he was my care giver and chauffeur, as I pulled and tore a tendon in my foot as well as having two stress fractures. Not once did he complain about having to do the laundry, dishes, vacuum floors or even prepare meals. He is an avid woodworker and had to give up his time in his workshop to care for me! Now that is LOVE!
